OPITO’s Custom Tracker Tag: A Sustainable Corporate Gift That Works on iPhone and Android

By Hariz Khairi • Updated October 2026 • 8 min read

Most tracker tags only work with one phone ecosystem, which is a problem when you cannot know what phone each recipient carries. For OPITO, Unseen Matters customised a dual-system tracker tag that works with either Apple Find My or Android Find Hub, and presented it in branded box packaging. This article covers what we made, how the custom tracker tag works, its limits, and what to check before ordering tracker tags in bulk in Malaysia.

What Is a Dual-System Tracker Tag?

A dual-system tracker tag works with either Apple Find My or Android Find Hub, so one gift suits both iPhone and Android users.

Each recipient sets up the tag on the network that matches their phone. It does not use both networks at once, so the choice is made at setup rather than at purchase. For a gift going to employees, delegates and partners at scale, that removes the risk of handing someone a device their phone cannot use.

What Did OPITO Need From Its Corporate Gift?

OPITO needed a compact, practical gift for recipients on different phones, so we customised a dual-system tracker tag with matching box packaging.

The gift had to be useful from the first day, small enough to give out easily at events, and clearly connected to OPITO. Many tracker tags are locked to one operating system, which makes them a poor fit for mixed audiences. A dual-system tag solved that, and we customised both the tag and its packaging so the result felt like one complete gift.

Does a Custom Tracker Tag Need GPS or a Data Plan?

No. The tag uses nearby compatible phones to relay its approximate location, so it needs no SIM card, GPS chip or monthly data subscription.

When a participating phone detects the tag, its approximate location is passed through the selected network, and the owner sees it in the Find My or Find Hub app. That is why the tag can stay small, and why there is no separate connectivity fee for recipients. The approach has a limit: it works best where other compatible phones are nearby, so a tag left in a very remote place may update slowly.

Why Is a Tracker Tag a Good Corporate Gift?

A tracker tag solves a daily problem: finding lost keys, bags, or luggage, so recipients use it often and keep your brand in view.

Recipients do not need a special occasion to use it. It can go straight onto keys, a work bag, or a suitcase and become part of their routine. Because it is used frequently, the logo travels with the owner between home, office, training venues, and airports without feeling like advertising. Brand visibility here comes from usefulness, not from a bigger logo.

What Can You Attach a Tracker Tag To?

You can attach a tracker tag to keys, backpacks, travel pouches, luggage and equipment cases, since its compact round form adds little bulk.

Each recipient decides where it helps most. Frequent travellers can put it on a suitcase or laptop bag. Office users can put it on keys or a small pouch that often goes missing.

How Do You Brand a Tracker Tag for a Corporate Gift?

Print the logo directly on the tag’s face and match the packaging, so the tag and box read as one designed gift.

We used a black tag with the OPITO logo in white, which stays legible and keeps a professional, understated look. The white box carries the logo in black, echoing the tag’s monochrome design. Packaging also helps organisers: boxed gifts are easier to arrange, display, and hand over consistently, and they protect the tag before distribution.

Is a Tracker Tag a Responsible Corporate Gift?

It can be, if recipients keep using it. A tracker is electronic, so its value depends on long use, battery life, and honest claims.

We do not present this as an eco-friendly product. It is an electronic device, and we have not claimed recycled content or a sustainability certification for it. Our argument is narrower: a gift that fits the recipient’s phone and solves a daily problem is more likely to be kept than a novelty item that is set aside. If you are weighing an ESG corporate gift in Malaysia, ask suppliers for battery details, replacement options, and any material claims in writing.

Can a Tracker Tag Be Used to Track People, and What Safeguards Exist?

Trackers are designed for belongings, and the networks provide alerts for unknown tags travelling with someone else. Check the details for your model.

Anyone giving out tracker tags in bulk should expect this question from recipients and be ready to answer it.

Who Is a Tracker Tag Corporate Gift Best For?

A tracker tag suits training delegates, conference participants, employees and professionals who travel for work.

It is easy to hand out at conferences, workshops and onboarding programmes because it needs no large box and no complicated setup. It also works as one item in a larger travel set alongside charging cables, travel organisers or document pouches.

What Should You Check Before Ordering Tracker Tags in Bulk?

Check network compatibility, battery life and replacement, range, unwanted-tracking safeguards, branding method, lead time and minimum order before you commit.

  1. Does it work with both Apple Find My and Android Find Hub?
  2. What is the battery life, and can it be replaced?
  3. What are the range, sound alert and water resistance?
  4. How does the supplier handle unwanted tracking safeguards?
  5. How is the logo applied, and does it wear off with use?
  6. What are the lead time and minimum order for Kuala Lumpur?
