Where Did the Design Inspiration Come From?

The set’s design drew from the ketupat, a traditional woven form recognisable across Southeast Asia, reimagined as a structured pyramid-shaped bag in deep navy batik with leather detailing.

Rather than applying batik as a surface pattern on a conventional bag shape, our team wanted the silhouette itself to carry meaning. The ketupat form is instantly familiar in this region, associated with gathering, celebration, and craftsmanship passed through generations. Translating that shape into a functional pyramid pouch bag, complete with a leather handle, gave the piece an unmistakable identity the moment someone picked it up, well before they noticed the batik detailing itself.

The navy and blue batik pattern was chosen to sit comfortably within the energy sector’s visual language – deep, confident tones that read as serious and premium rather than playful, while still carrying the intricate linework that makes batik recognisable as a craft.
